Pyhävaha island
Description
The island of Pyhävaha or Peevalinkari has been known as a sacred site, where people gathered to burn midsummer pyres still in the 1930s. The island has many known names relating to it´s sacrality; "Pyhävaha", meaning sacred rock, "Peevalingkari", possibly deriving from st. Paul´s shoals and "Uhrisaari", meaning sacrifice island.
